I painted myself
One leg at a time
In a timeless landscape
Of booming mint and daisies
With butterflies kissing each others cheeks.
I painted myself rosy-faced with turquoise nail polish toes.
You can’t see them
Because the feet are standing
In a knee-high grass field
And refuse to leave
The dewy carpet
Of the soft mountain top.
I painted myself cozy
And may be a bit melancholic
As the summer smells a bit like autumn already
And the days are just a few minutes shorter.
When the fall comes
I will paint myself again -
In a warm sweater and fuzzy socks.
That will be a new landscape,
But for now -
I painted myself summer-side up.
