Sometimes we think that the extraordinary always has to be intense, when in reality it often appears in the quietest moments. I'm interested in that beauty that doesn't need to impose itself, the beauty we discover when we stop searching for answers and simply observe.
The Woman of the Lake was born from that idea. The figure remains motionless before the viewer, but doesn't convey distance. Her presence is part of the landscape in the same way as the water, the trees, or the light. There is no separation between the person and the place; both seem to breathe at the same rhythm.
Galicia (Spain) has always held an important place in my memory. More than representing a specific landscape, I try to recapture a feeling: the dampness of the air, the sound of the water, the stillness of the forest, and that way nature has of making us feel small and, at the same time, deeply connected to it.
I paint because I believe that images still exist that can stop us for a few seconds. In an age dominated by speed, I'm interested in reclaiming contemplation as a form of resistance. Looking slowly allows us to discover nuances that usually remain hidden and reminds us that beauty also resides in the everyday.
I don't seek to tell a closed story. I prefer to create a space where each viewer can recognize themselves through their own experience. Perhaps some will find serenity, others nostalgia, and others simply the memory of a place that once made them feel at peace.
