    • Lian Yung is a San Francisco, Mission based painter. She paints highly detailed work, usually depicting animals or figures meshed together with machinery and rope. Lian’s work touches on the feelings of uncertainty, but with determination. Juxtaposing these conflicting emotions, she create works that relate to the viewer and to the current political and social climate. Lian graduated with a B.S in Mathematical and Computational Biology in 2022, which she draws inspiration from after becoming a full time artist in 2024. Additionally, her mixed background of Chinese and Puerto Rican heritage heavily influences symbols and subjects in her work. She works closely with the local art scene in San Francisco, including the figure drawing non-profit Sketchboard, and is currently pursuing a MFA in painting at CCA.
