Modern Eden Gallery is pleased to present "With Reverence", the debut solo exhibition ofMelissa Morgan. This new series of portraits has an environmental inspiration, as the artist explains, “My latest body of work is a reflection of my concern about the decimation of the natural world and our precarious connection to it.” Utilizing expert and traditional painting skills, each portrait depicts the deep symbolism of our environmental impact through non-traditional surrealistic subject manner. While somber in theme, the artist does not present the topic with catastrophic intention but “these pieces, while expressing my fears and concerns with the topic, also carry a message of hope for change.”
Melissa Morgan’s interest in creating art began while she was a child drawing alongside her father in New York. This passion grew while studying graphic design at the New York Institute of Technology, and since then she has dedicated herself to the challenge of representing the intricacies of life with a wide variety of mediums. Her work is on display at galleries in New Mexico and California, as well as her shop MeMe Boutique, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, where she currently finds inspiration amongst the rolling hills of the Midwest.
The opening reception for ‘With Reverence’ will be held at Modern Eden Gallery on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 6 pm–9 pm. The artist will be in attendance at the reception. The exhibition will be on display through February 27, 2016 and is free and open to the public.
