Steven Kenny is a contemporary painter born in Peekskill, New York in 1962. After earning his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and studying independently in Rome, he built a successful career as an award-winning commercial illustrator before turning exclusively to fine art in 1997. Now based in St. Petersburg, Florida, Kenny creates surreal oil paintings that merge the human figure with elements of nature, using techniques inspired by Renaissance and Northern Baroque masters to explore the complexities of human nature and our relationship with the environment. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in numerous public and private collections.
