  • I went about this painting by first thinking about the femme fatale archetype and coming to the conclusion that you usually see this character portrayed in movies and/or books as this strong, sensual, dangerous women. So I started thinking about my favorite "Femme Fatale" characters such as Beatrix "The Bride" Kiddo and O-Ren Ishii from Kill Bill, Amy Dunne in Gone girl and one of my favorites Jenny from Forrest Gump. The similarities in the characters seem to be lacking but the reason they behave the way they do all seems to stem from a dark past. I try to capture this in the painting by having a young sheep (symbolizing innocence or love or whatever) injured and as an outcome you get this stoic person. There is also a wolf in the painting symbolizing both the protagonist an antagonist in the story And an empty house which is talking about the dark beginning to the story, but placing the house in the bottom right corner of the painting also allows it to be read as the end to the story and leaves the painting with an optimistic future.
