Liz Gridley’s oil paintings centre on her experiences of states of hyper-emotion where distress arises from overstimulation. The personal inevitability of death & death care is a point in which dialogue can be culturally celebrated or silenced. Gridley’s works make room for conversation that is often pushed aside as taboo. Through contemporary surfaces including aluminium, Gridley reflects her internal states & research to connect viscerally with the viewer.
Recently, Gridley won the Featured artist award in the “Victorian Artists Society Coterie” by the Hansen Little Foundation, exhibited internationally and has been a finalist in National Art prizes.
