  • Patrushka grew up in deep in the bowels of Southern California and spent many hours safely cocooned in her room – stereo blasting, drawing, reading and coloring. Early artistic influences were book illustrations, record album covers, fairy tales, comics, poetry and TV. Later, the art books of MC Escher, Waterhouse, R. Crumb, Van Gogh, Max Ernst, Japanese design and Salvador Dali captivated her.  Working in almost all media, from collage to painting, she’s created an eclectic array of images – concentrating the last few years in predominantly paintings on wood. Fascinated with the yin and yang of life, the skull beneath the smile, the dark within the light, the grain within the wood, the good as well as the bad. Music, pop culture, emotions, science, politics, injustice, the human face and our natural world are constant inspirations. She loves vintage shops, black cats, dark French roast coffee, guacamole and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
