Chelsea Wong is a painter and muralist based in San Francisco. Her work captures world culture and contemporary life—exploring everything from travel to tai chi, to feminism and performance art. Wong's work observes the world around her and in particular the city of San Francisco in which she lives. Growing up in a politically active and ethnically merged family, diversity and sisterhood are at the heart of Wong's work. Enigmatic and full of curiosity, her work is both comedic and joyous, poignant and politically-charged.
Wong began her studies at Parsons School of Design (New York, NY), and finished at California College of the Arts with a B.A. in Printmaking in 2010. She is the first recipient of the Hamaguchi Emerging Artists Fellowship award at Kala in Berkeley, CA (2010) and has recently completed a mural for the FB AIR Program in San Francisco, CA (2019). She has exhibited across the United States, Europe and Asia.
