  • Born in 1982, Lima-Peru, Jorge "Vascano" Vasquez-Elescano, initially developed his affinity for the arts and the foundations of his artistic vision in the exotic amazon surroundings of Tarapoto where he grew up.

    It was after moving to the United States that he received formal training in various educational institutions such as: Northern Virginia Community College, Corcoran College of Art and Design, Maryland Institute College of Art and The New York Academy of Art where he received his MFA in 2017. During his formative period and after, Jorge's works were displayed in numerous group shows, had his first solo show at the Peruvian consulate in Washington DC, participated in international group shows and was awarded merit international residencies to Giverny, France in painting and Carrara, Italy in stone carving. Moreover, he has been published in literature journals, news articles, featured in selected web art portfolios, collaborated on an artwork performance at the Armory Show and lastly had his works featured in the Golden Globe and Academy Award nominated motion picture If Beale Street Could Talk.

    Jorge currently resides between Virginia and New York where he continues developing his work and pursuing his professional practice.
